Mindfulness Theme For Children and For Those Who Support Children

Brandy Broadway speaking at ReConnect Parent Town Hall

ReConnect Parent Town Hall with speaker Brandy Broadway.

It is with great appreciation that we share this beautiful affirmation from Brandy Broadway, North Omaha Director for YoungLife and HERE team member, when speaking to parents and community members at the ReConnect Parent Town Hall. The theme we wanted to share was centred around “You Are Enough,” and Brandy finished her talk with the below words. We hope you remember that “You are a work of greatness” every day. You can read this with the children you support too! Find more mindfulness activities below as a part of this theme. A big thank you also to Douglas County Commissioner Mary Ann Borgeson for her incredible work in the community support youth and families, including our programs!

Thank you for being here ~ May you be safe. May you be healthy. May you be loved.

Affirmation For Healing

"Our emotional connections are stronger and deeper than we realize. In this life we must choose to live and be present. Although we are not always in control of our circumstances, we can control how we choose to live through them. As humans, we are more than conquerors... We are enough. We can be mighty as a lioness and gentle as bluebirds. We bring light. We bring joy. We bring others opportunities to smile, to laugh, and cry tears of joy. The more I look for the good the more I find. We were created to be free and fearless. We were created to love, to be patient, to be kind to each other and to ourselves...To offer grace and mercy and lots of it. To forgive ourselves. To forgive our past.

We WILL walk into our future and whatever may come with dignity, courage, positivity, and with strong, thriving roots that were built inside a one of a kind work of greatness... YOU.”

~ Brandy Broadway, North Omaha Area Director for YoungLife Omaha and HERE Team Member

Mindfulness Activities For Children

In order for positive action to take place, we need to feel calm, relaxed, and supported within our environment. For many of us, and especially for youth coming from high-stress and/or traumatic households, entering a space of peace and comfort allows the body to relax and the mind to become clearer. Being in this state of calm encourages learning, reduces stress and anxiety, and allows us to connect with ourselves and the world around us.
