"Calming Cuties" ~ Let's Take A Deep Breath!

welcome to the peaceful world of the “calming cuties” ~ join them for these breathing exercises that help calm busy, overwhelmed brains

With the Calming Cuties, you'll learn to unwind and discover peace within… Such a treasure you'll find!

So when your brain gets busy, and thoughts cause a strain, breathe with the Cuties, and let tranquility reign!

“Three Healing Breaths”

It's as simple as it sounds! It is one of the most healing practices we can do, and so easy to do. “Three Healing Breaths” is a great activity for “Mindful Moments” at school or home too. Find a comfortable seat and close your eyes. Begin to breathe in through the nose for the first time, bringing the breath into the lungs and diaphragm and letting it out through the nose or mouth. Repeat three times (or more if needed!).

“Breathe Into The Heart”

Get cosy in your seat or on the floor and close your eyes. Place one hand on your heart, and the other hand on top. Start to breathe nice and slowly, directing the breath and warm energy to the heart, as you breathe through the nose and out of the mouth. Feel the heart open and visualise the warm, healing air filling it up. Repeat this breathing exercise as many times as you need.

“Leaf Breath”

With a leaf in your hand, drawn on a piece of paper, inhale nice and slowly while you trace up a leaf edge. Hold your breath for two seconds at the tip. Exhale as you trace down the other edge of the leaf. Hold your breath for two seconds. Do it all around the leaf to feel calm and brave! (Teachers, providers and parents can also hold a leaf, while the child follows the activity with their eyes, or uses their fingers to trace an imaginary leaf in the air.)

“Breathing Ball”

The “Breathing Ball” is a wonderful visual aid for little ones to learn how to breathe slowly and calm themselves! Take a nice, deep breath in as you expand the ball bigger and bigger! Slowly breathe out as the ball gets smaller and smaller. You can even ask the little ones to visualise breathing in nice, positive air, and breathe out sad, negative thoughts.

“Lotus Through Mud” Meditation For Children and Teens

Lighter days are ahead. Just like the lotus flower, we can move through even the toughest of challenges and murky water, emerging stronger and more beautiful on the other side. Feel your roots grounding you into the earth… Feel your gentle heartbeat and slow down the breath….  Feel connected to yourself, and to nature…  It is within us to rise through challenge, just as the lotus flower does….
