Resilience and Healing For The Holidays: A Special Christmas Om:Pop Series With Family Support

A very special time of year is upon us, that brings families, loved ones and friends together, feelings of gratitude and hope and new beginnings. At least, in a perfect world that’s what the holidays are like. In reality, it’s also the most trying time of year for many and even painful due to life circumstances current and past. At a minimum, we can feel overloaded and overwhelmed. But during the toughest moments it’s far worse and can include loneliness, anxiety and trauma (current and past). We are here to say we feel this with you and recognise this - It’s why we are focusing a special Christmas Om:Pop series on “Resilience and Healing For the Holidays” with Family Support, Hammersmith & Fulham. We are thrilled to once again have Om:Pop team member Karin Schrijvers of Bubble + Sprout as a part of the sessions, as well as announce YogaDad Rob Reid as a new Om:Pop team member too!

During the next few weeks and beyond, one thing you can do for yourself is to let yourself take a breath. Anywhere, anytime, particularly during anxious and self-defeating moments, taking a moment to recognise that you need to take a deep breath and then taking action on that can offer relief.

Here is a tip from YogaDad:

Live and Breathe It

“A breathing practice serves many purposes that range from unlocking energy within the body to, supporting muscle release. I love using my breath as a bridge between the body and mind, bringing a greater sense of self-awareness and balance to my practice.

A busy festive period can overstimulate the nervous system and be physically and mentally exhausting. Finding time for the breath can be challenging but so beneficial. Look for pockets of time to deepen and lengthen the breath, such as in a supermarket queue. Take time to check-in with your breath as you check out. “

A Mindful Moment

You can also add a mantra to those moments when you take deep breaths ~ Like this one: “I am resilient. I am full of abundance. I am enough.”
