Powered by HERE: for developers
The Powered by HERE pilot API
The Powered by HERE API lets an approved platform ask for reviewed wellbeing activities that fit a moment, and show them inside its own product. A request carries a few non-identifying details (age, feelings, setting, time and language); the response is a short list of activities from HERE's library, each with a stable id and a plain reason it fits. Access is by pilot agreement, and the demonstration on this site is open to anyone.
At a glance
- Status
- Pilot, version 1

- Format
- JSON over HTTPS
- What goes in
- Non-identifying context only
- What comes out
- Reviewed activities, with stable ids and content versions
- Try it
- The open demonstration, no key needed
Endpoints
| Method | Path | What it does |
|---|---|---|
POST | /api/partner/v1/recommendations | Activities that fit a described moment |
GET | /api/partner/v1/activities | Search licensed activities by age, feeling, setting, time, language, pillar or format |
GET | /api/partner/v1/activities/{activity_id} | One licensed activity, with the fields your licence includes |
POST | /api/partner/v1/share-links | A revocable, attributed link to an activity, for email, messages or a QR code |
Server to server calls carry the key in an Authorization header. A secret key never goes in browser code; browser embeds use a signed, restricted configuration instead.

What a request may carry
Translate what you know into the smallest abstract description of the moment. For example: a worried child aged 8 to 12, in a classroom, with ten minutes available.
- Never names or contact details
- Never medical records, diagnoses or student records
- Never journal entries or safeguarding disclosures
- Never precise addresses or emergency information
Crisis or unsafe language is stopped before it reaches any model, under the same rules as the rest of HERE. The API is never a crisis, safeguarding or reporting channel.
What every response promises
- Every activity resolves to a real, reviewed HERE activity, with a stable id and a content version.
- An empty list when no safe, licensed match exists, never a near miss.
- No title or link is ever made up.
- Only the fields your licence includes, and never unpublished content or internal notes.
Errors
Errors come back as JSON with a code, a plain message and the request id. The codes are invalid_request, unauthorised, scope_not_allowed, rate_limited, activity_not_found, content_unavailable and internal_error. No error ever contains a secret, a database message or personal request data.
Not in the first release
- Public sign-up and instant production keys
- Automated billing and SDKs
- Open-ended chat access to Noa
- Bulk export or arbitrary queries of the library
- Writing to HERE content
- Any personal health, student or journal data
Questions people ask
Can I get an API key today?
Not instantly. Pilot credentials are issued by hand after a pilot agreement, scoped to your organisation, your licensed collections and your allowed domains. Tell us about your platform to start.
Is there a way to try it first?
Yes. The demonstration at /api/powered-by-here/demo takes the same request as the recommendations endpoint, needs no key, and answers from a small set of real HERE activities.
Does the API generate content?
No. It only returns activities written and reviewed by the HERE team. It matches; it never writes.
What does a pilot cost?
Pilots are scoped and priced in conversation, around the size of your audience and what you want to build.
Is there a simpler option than the API?
Yes. The HERE website embed puts HERE on any page with one copy and paste, and is included in every HERE team plan.
